Iran reacts to US Treasury Secretary's statement: 'We will make Tehran broke again'

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei responded to Bessent's remarks targeting Iran in a written statement.

Baghaei stated that the US Secretary's "hostile remarks regarding the continuation of the maximum pressure policy against the Iranian people are a clear sign of the continued hostility of American politicians toward the Iranian people."

Noting that the policy of pressure and intimidation against Iran is a "crime against humanity and a clear violation of international law," Baghaei emphasized that the Iranian nation will respond to all forms of illegal and inhumane pressure with resistance and stability.

Baghaei stated, "Testing what has been tried and tested is a mistake, and US politicians will not reach a different result than what they have achieved so far by repeating wrong policies."

US Treasury Secretary Bessent, in his speech at the Economic Club of New York (ECNY) the other day, pointed to the "maximum pressure" campaign implemented by US President Donald Trump against Iran and said that they have launched a sanctions campaign targeting all stages of Tehran's oil supply chain.

Bessent had said, "Making Iran broke again will be the beginning of our updated sanctions policy. If economic security is national security, Tehran will have neither."
