Iran threatens economic retaliation against US and Israel: Response to bank attack ready

A spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, affiliated with the Iranian military, announced that the US and Israel had carried out an attack on a bank operating in Iran. Following the attack, the Tehran government stated that they would not remain silent on the matter, signaling that economic centers and financial institutions belonging to the US and Israel could be targeted in the coming period.

In the statement made by the spokesperson, it was said, "Following failed military attempts, the terrorist American army and the oppressive Zionist regime have struck our banks in the country." The statement emphasized that the attack was illegitimate and noted that this gives Iran the right to economic retaliation.

The Iranian official warned civilians in the high-risk area, calling on them not to approach within one kilometer of the banks. Additionally, a clear warning was issued that the US could face a "painful response."

It is known that Iran has targeted Israel's critical economic facilities in the past. In June 2025, during the clashes referred to as the "Twelve-Day War," an Iranian ballistic missile struck the stock exchange building in the Ramat Gan district of Tel Aviv. In that attack, it was reported by Israeli media that Israel's air defense system, the Iron Dome, had been breached and that numerous rockets had been launched in the city.

The latest statements from the Tehran administration have brought concerns about a potential escalation of tension in the region back to the agenda.
