Warning from Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi made notable statements regarding the preparations by the UK and France to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz. Stating that the security of the Strait of Hormuz is provided solely by Iran, Gharibabadi pointed out that military forces arriving from outside the region could escalate the crisis.

According to information from Iran's semi-official news sources, Gharibabadi expressed that the increase in the military presence of the UK and France in the strait could create a danger of militarization and instability in the region. In his statement, Gharibabadi used the following words: "The security of the Strait of Hormuz is provided solely by Iran."

Gharibabadi also stated that the Strait of Hormuz is not a common area open to all countries and that the Iranian Armed Forces would show the necessary reaction against international initiatives. He underscored that Iran would not remain unresponsive, especially if warships were deployed to the region.

The UK and France, on the other hand, had announced that following recent security concerns in the region, they would establish a defensive mission to ensure the safe passage of ships and would provide escort support to vessels in the area.
