Iranian and Pakistani Foreign Ministers speak following attacks

According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, the phone call between Abdollahian and Pakistani Foreign Minister Jilani addressed relations between the two countries.

IRANIAN MINISTER: WE ATTACKED THE JAIŞ AL-ADL ORGANIZATION, NO PAKISTANI CITIZENS WERE TARGETED

Abdollahian stated that his country respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan, which he described as a "friendly and brotherly neighboring country," and expressed that the Jaiş al-Adl organization, which Iran announced it had targeted in Pakistan yesterday, poses a threat to the security of both nations. Abdollahian conveyed to his counterpart that the attacks on the border were carried out against the Jaiş al-Adl organization, that the members of the organization were Iranian, and that no Pakistani citizens were targeted in the attack.

Pointing out the importance of maintaining cooperation between the two countries, including on the issue of counter-terrorism, the Iranian Minister expressed that Tehran-Islamabad relations should continue in the direction of stronger security cooperation.

It was reported that Pakistani Foreign Minister Jilani stated they view Iran's security as Pakistan's security and reminded that Pakistan has always taken action against any threat to Iran originating from its territory.

Stating that Iran should share information about terrorist groups on Pakistani soil in line with the joint cooperation between the two countries, Jilani noted that Islamabad would carry out the fight against terrorist organizations in Pakistan with its own armed forces.

IRAN HAD ANNOUNCED THAT TARGETS IN PAKISTANI TERRITORY WERE STRUCK

Iran's semi-official Tasnim News Agency had announced that the camps of the Jaiş al-Adl organization located in Pakistani territory were targeted with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. The first statement from Iranian officials on the matter was made today by Iranian Foreign Minister Abdollahian.

Abdollahian had announced that they targeted the camps of the organization called Jaiş al-Adl, which claimed responsibility for the attack in the city of Rask in southeastern Iran that killed 12 security personnel, near the Pakistani border.

In a statement issued by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the attacks, it was stated that Iran had conducted an airstrike on the Panjgur region of the border province of Balochistan, and that 2 children had lost their lives and 3 girls were injured in the attack.

The statement conveyed that such a violation of Pakistan's sovereignty was unacceptable and could have serious consequences.

Pakistani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch also announced that they had recalled their Ambassador to Tehran following Iran's violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and that all high-level visits had been canceled.

JAIŞ AL-ADL ORGANIZATION

"Jaiş al-Adl," which is considered a terrorist organization in Iran, occasionally carries out armed actions against Iran in the Sistan-Balochistan province, located on the Pakistan border in the southeast of the country, claiming to "defend the rights of the Sunni Baloch people."

The organization had claimed responsibility for the attack on a police station in Sistan-Balochistan province on December 15, in which 12 security personnel were killed.

The Jaiş al-Adl organization also claimed responsibility for the attack on a police station in the same region on January 10, in which 1 police officer lost his life.
