Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi: First round of negotiations to begin after signing
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a statement regarding the agreement between Iran and the US, said, "The first round of negotiations will begin after the signing of the memorandum of understanding."
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made statements regarding the agreement between Iran and the US following a meeting with members of the Iranian parliament's Economic Commission.
Araghchi stated that a meeting would "likely" be held between Iranian and US delegations in Switzerland, noting that the memorandum of understanding would be signed at this meeting and that the first round of negotiations would begin afterward. Expressing that Iran has deep doubts regarding the US's commitment to any agreement, Araghchi said, "There are examples in the past of promises not being kept, and agreements not being implemented or being torn up."
Stating that the memorandum of understanding could "create economic opportunities" for Iran, Araghchi expressed that Iran would try to maximize the economic benefits of any agreement but would avoid excessive dependence on it.
"We signed the agreement digitally"
Meanwhile, speaking ahead of the signing ceremony expected to be held in Switzerland on Friday, US Vice President James David Vance said that the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran was signed "digitally" in an electronic environment yesterday.
An unnamed US official also said that the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran was signed by US President Donald Trump, US Vice President Vance, and Speaker of the Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
