Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi: 'International law is practically dead'

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reacted to the attacks by the US and Israel against Iran and the stance of Western countries in a statement made via his social media account.

"INTERNATIONAL LAW IS PRACTICALLY DEAD"

In his statement, Araghchi included the following remarks: "International law is practically dead. The reason for this is the double standards applied by the West regarding Gaza and Ukraine, and their silence regarding the aggression of Israel and the US against Iran."

REFERENCE TO STEINMEIER: "THOSE WHO RAISE THEIR VOICES SHOULD BE APPRECIATED"

Recalling the statements of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier criticizing the attacks by the US and Israel against Iran and the approach of the German government on this issue, Araghchi said, "Nevertheless, President Steinmeier should be appreciated for condemning the violations against Iranians. Everyone who values the rule of law must raise their voice."

STEINMEIER'S WORDS BACK ON THE AGENDA

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier had previously criticized the attacks by the US and Israel against Iran and the German government's stance on the matter, stating, "Not calling violations of international law as violations does not make our foreign policy more credible. We already had to deal with this in the Gaza War. We also have to deal with it in the Iran War because this war is contrary to international law. This war is a politically disastrous mistake. If the goal of the war is to stop Iran on the path to a nuclear bomb, this war is truly an avoidable and unnecessary war."
