As the advance of groups opposed to the Assad regime continues in Syria, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, for official talks. Araghchi met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

During the meeting, Araghchi stated that Iran provides full support to the Syrian people and army in the fight against terrorism and in maintaining regional security and stability.
