Iranian official: Drones intercepted near Qeshm Island
Ahmed Nafisi, Deputy Governor of Iran's Hormozgan Province, announced that the explosion sounds heard around Qeshm Island were caused by Iranian air defense systems intervening against drones detected in the area.
As the political and military crisis between the US and Iran continues to deepen, sounds of explosions were heard around Qeshm Island, located near the Strait of Hormuz in Iran.
An official stated that Iranian air defense systems were activated after drone threats were detected over the island.
Hormozgan Province Deputy Governor Ahmed Nafisi stated, "The sound heard on Qeshm Island a few hours ago was caused by the activation of defense systems and an engagement with hostile drones." Nafisi did not provide details regarding the outcome of the intervention.
Speaking to the Iranian press, Nafisi emphasized that the armed forces are in a state of full readiness, stating, "The situation is completely under control and conditions on Qeshm Island are entirely stable."
