Iranian Rial falls to zero against the US dollar
The rapid depreciation of the currency in Iran, combined with severe inflation, has escalated social unrest. As the economic crisis deepens by the day, protests are on the rise, and global markets are closely monitoring developments in Iran.
High inflation in Iran has made economic fragility even more pronounced, leading to mass protests across the country. The recent historic decline of the rial against the dollar has significantly weakened the purchasing power of Iranians and increased social tension.
According to developments reflected in Google's currency data, the value of 1 Iranian Rial has been zeroed out and recorded as 0.00 US Dollars. This situation has caused the extreme loss of value experienced by the rial to be clearly reflected on international platforms, leading to the rounding of statistics.
Recent data shows that 1 US Dollar is equivalent to 1 million 137 thousand 500 Iranian Rials. A notable change has also occurred on the Turkish Lira front; currently, 1 TL is equivalent to approximately 25 thousand 366 Iranian Rials.
With this sharp decline, the Iranian Rial has fallen to the position of the second most devalued currency in the world. The Lebanese Pound sits at the top of the list.
Following the increasing social mobility and protests in the country, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed that the CIA and Mossad were behind the events. On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that they bear the responsibility for the current situation in the economy.
