Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei's Advisor Velayati: Iran is strictly against the disarmament of Hezbollah
Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stated, "Iran is strictly against the disarmament of Hezbollah. Iran has always supported the Lebanese people and their resistance, and it continues this support with determination."
Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reacted to the Lebanese cabinet's approval of a US proposal aimed at disarming all armed groups, including Hezbollah. Velayati stated, "Iran is strictly against the disarmament of Hezbollah. Because Iran has always supported the Lebanese people and their resistance, and it continues this support with determination today."
Velayati also noted that such initiatives have failed in the past, saying, "Even in periods when the resistance's resources and power were limited, these plans failed. Today, public support is much stronger, and its resources are much greater. God willing, these efforts will definitely not yield results."
Stating that Hezbollah is accepted by all segments of society in Lebanon, Velayati said, "The resistance is the honor of Lebanon. Lebanon's existence and security depend on the resistance. The Lebanese people have not forgotten the period in 1982 when there was no resistance. At that time, Israel had advanced as far as southern Beirut and the Dahiyeh region, but it was forced to retreat due to Hezbollah's resistance."
"HEZBOLLAH IS STANDING TALL"
Reminding that Israel, with US support, has carried out assassinations targeting key figures such as former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Velayati said, "They think Hezbollah is weakened, yet it is still standing tall. Today's Hezbollah is much stronger and more resilient than it was in the early 1980s. If it weren't for Hezbollah, Israel would have done to Lebanon exactly what it did to Palestine. If Hezbollah lays down its arms, who will protect the lives, property, and honor of the Lebanese people? Have the events of the past not yet been a lesson to some politicians in this country?"
"IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN"
Velayati stated that this process is being carried out in Lebanon solely in line with the wishes of the US and Israel, adding, "The US and Israel think they can bring a government of their choosing to power in Lebanon, just as they did in the Golan, but this dream will never come true, and Lebanon will continue its resistance as it always has."
The Lebanese cabinet had approved a 4-stage plan containing a US proposal to disarm all non-state armed groups in the country, including Hezbollah, in exchange for Israel stopping its attacks on Lebanon and withdrawing its troops from five points it still occupies in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem, in a statement he made recently, rejected the US proposal, arguing that it would leave Lebanon defenseless against Israel.
Following the approval of the decision, pro-Hezbollah groups organized large-scale protests in the capital Beirut, particularly in the Dahiyeh region, as well as in Baalbek in the east and the cities of Nabatieh and Tyre in the south. Protesters brought traffic to a standstill with convoys consisting of hundreds of vehicles and motorcycles, chanting slogans targeting Israel and the decision in question.
