Iraqi government decides to use the term 'banned organization PKK' in official correspondence

According to information obtained from security sources, relations between Turkey and Iraq have moved to a new dimension as a result of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's contacts during his recent visit to Iraq and his meetings with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and high-level Iraqi officials.

Counter-terrorism, security, and military cooperation were discussed at the security summit held in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, with the participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, and Director of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın. In a document sent by the Iraqi Prime Ministry to the Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives on July 23, the phrase "the use of 'banned organization PKK' for the PKK terrorist organization in official correspondence" was included.

The development in question was based on the Iraqi Council of Ministers' decision on July 28 regarding "the use of 'banned organization PKK' for the PKK in official correspondence."
