Islamabad summit fails: Points of disagreement between Iran and the US revealed

The Iranian press has announced that the talks conducted between the US and Iran in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, concluded without reaching an agreement. The semi-official Tasnim news agency, which is close to the Iranian government, reported that the negotiations ended without any consensus. It was stated that the "excessive demands" of the US side prevented the establishment of common ground.

Press TV, which is affiliated with the Iranian administration, reported that the issues on which the parties could not reach a consensus included transit rights through the Strait of Hormuz and matters related to Tehran's nuclear program.

TALKS CONTINUED UNTIL LATE AT NIGHT

Earlier in the day, reports in the Iranian press stated that the contacts between the US and Iranian delegations in Islamabad had continued until 03:00 local time and that the talks would continue on Sunday.

However, US Vice President James David Vance stated in his remarks that the negotiations were inconclusive, saying, "We could not reach a deal with Iran. As a result, we are returning to the US without having reached an agreement."
