Israel announces it has killed 4 Hamas officials
In a joint written statement issued by the Israeli army and the Internal Security Service, it was stated that 4 high-ranking officials affiliated with Hamas were killed in airstrikes.
The statement noted that Rıfat Abbas, Commander of Hamas's "Ad-Daraj and Tuffah Battalion," his deputy İbrahim Cezba, and the battalion's Military and Administrative Support Commander Tarık Maruf were killed in an airstrike carried out by Israeli fighter jets based on intelligence provided by Shin Bet.
ALLEGED TO HAVE PLAYED AN ACTIVE ROLE IN THE ATTACKS
The statement pointed out that the Ad-Daraj and Tuffah Battalion is affiliated with the Gaza City Brigade, considered one of the most important units under Hamas, and alleged that armed elements belonging to this battalion played an active role in the attacks carried out against Israel on October 7.
The statement also noted that Shadi Barut, Deputy Head of Hamas's Intelligence Department, was killed in another attack carried out in partnership between the army and Shin Bet.
It was alleged that Barut had planned the attacks against Israel with Yahya Sinwar, Hamas's leader in Gaza.
