Israel attacks UN school in Gaza for the third time: 11 dead, nearly 20 injured

Israel has continued its attacks on civilians in Gaza since October 7, 2023.

According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli warplanes bombed the "Asma" school, which is affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and serves as a shelter for displaced persons in the Al-Shati Refugee Camp in western Gaza City.

Health sources reported that 11 people were killed and nearly 20 were injured in the attack, with the wounded being transported to Al-Shifa and Al-Ahli Baptist hospitals.

Israeli warplanes had previously bombed the "Asma" school on June 7 and October 19. Those attacks resulted in more than 10 deaths and dozens of injuries.

Since October 7, 2023, 42,924 Palestinians have been killed, including approximately 17,210 children and 11,742 women, and 100,833 people have been injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

While it is reported that thousands remain under the rubble, civilian infrastructure is also being destroyed as hospitals and educational institutions where people seek shelter are targeted.
