Israel demolishes Al-Araqib village once again; villagers become a symbol of resistance

The village of Al-Araqib, home to Palestinian Bedouins, has been demolished once again by Israeli forces. First destroyed on July 27, 2010, the village has been repeatedly targeted by Israel despite being rebuilt numerous times since that date.

The 86 residents, consisting of 22 families living in the village, continue their struggle for survival by rebuilding their homes with wood and plastic materials after every demolition.

Israel does not provide basic services such as electricity and water to Al-Araqib and similar villages in the Negev region, and it does not recognize the land ownership of Palestinians in these areas. According to Palestinian sources, the Israeli administration has expropriated 11 million dunams of the 12 million dunams of land in the Negev Desert to date, affecting 220,000 Palestinians in the process.

The village of Al-Araqib has become a symbol of resistance against Israel's settlement policies. The villagers continue to try to maintain their presence by rebuilding their homes after every demolition.
