Israel enters Syrian territory for the first time since 1973! They crossed the buffer zone

The New York Times, citing Israeli officials, announced that Israeli forces have advanced into Syrian territory.

Officials confirmed that Israeli air forces also struck Syrian state military assets over the weekend.

Stating that the capture of these military assets by "opposition forces" poses a threat to Israel, the officials noted that the targets struck included small chemical weapons depots, radar-equipped batteries, Russian-made air defense systems, and Scud missiles.

FIRST TIME SINCE 1973

Israeli officials reported that Israeli forces crossed the buffer zone in the Golan Heights, entering Syrian territory for the first time since 1973.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had stated yesterday that he instructed the army to "seize" the buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights.

Furthermore, a report by the Israeli state broadcaster KAN stated that the Israeli army confirmed it had occupied Mount Hermon on the Syrian side of the occupied Golan Heights.

Israel has kept the Syrian Golan Heights under occupation since 1967. The boundaries of the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone were established by the Agreement on Disengagement between Israel and Syria signed in 1974.
