Israel kills another Hamas official in new assassination

As tensions rise following Israel's assassination of Hamas leader Haniyeh, Tel Aviv has carried out another attack in Lebanon. It was reported that a Hamas official was killed in the attack.

According to the report by Lebanon's official news agency NNA, the Israeli army struck a moving vehicle at the Hasbaya junction near the Ain al-Hilweh Refugee Camp in the city of Sidon.

The vehicle in question was hit by 2 missiles.

Hamas Movement official Samir al-Hajj, who was in the vehicle, lost his life at the scene.

Two civilians named Nesim Nasr and Iman Avda, who were waiting in line at a gas station during the attack, were also injured.

In parallel with the war it has been waging in Gaza for the last 10 months, the Israeli army has been carrying out attacks against Hamas members, Hezbollah, and other groups in Lebanon.

HANIYEH ASSASSINATION

Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps announced in a statement early this morning that an attack had been carried out on the residence where Haniyeh was staying in Tehran.

While Iran and Hamas hold Israel responsible for the assassination, Israeli officials have refrained from making a statement regarding the incident.

Haniyeh was elected as the Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau by the Hamas Shura Council on May 6, 2017, replacing Khaled Mashal.

Yahya Sinwar has become the new leader of Hamas, replacing Haniyeh.
