Israel opens fire on UN vehicle in Gaza
The United Nations (UN) announced that Israeli forces fired 10 shots at a UN vehicle in a convoy that was coordinated with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) yesterday evening.
Israel has once again targeted a UN vehicle in the Gaza Strip. Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, announced that Israeli forces fired 10 shots at a UN vehicle in a convoy that was coordinated with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) yesterday evening.
Dujarric stated, "A clearly marked UN humanitarian vehicle, which was part of a convoy fully coordinated with the IDF, was hit 10 times by IDF fire, with the windshields also being targeted," adding that the two personnel inside the vehicle were unharmed. Recalling that they had previously mentioned the need for armored vehicles in Gaza, Dujarric noted that the two personnel survived the attack thanks to their vehicle being armored.
Dujarric said, "This incident is the latest to demonstrate that the systems used for coordination are not working, and we continue to work with the IDF to ensure that such incidents do not happen again."
