Israel-Turkey tension asked: Donald Trump praises Erdoğan again

US President Donald Trump addressed developments regarding Iran as well as Turkey and Israel while answering questions from journalists in the Oval Office at the White House.

Responding to a question from an Israeli journalist about whether a potential conflict might occur between Turkey and Israel, Trump touched upon his relationship with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Regarding Erdoğan, Trump stated, "He is a very good friend of mine and we have worked very well together. I like him. He is a great leader and a very strong person."

ISRAEL-TURKEY RELATIONS ASKED

Addressing claims that there could be tension between Turkey and Israel, the US President stated that he was not aware of such a situation.

In his assessment of the matter, Trump said, "I haven't heard anything like that. If I had, I would call him and make sure everything was okay. I don't think something like that will happen with Turkey. He respects me, and I respect him. Beyond that, we have a good friendship."

In his remarks, the US President emphasized the mutual respect and friendship between himself and Erdoğan, while stating that he does not expect a conflict between Turkey and Israel.
