Israel will not withdraw from 5 points in Lebanon

While the Israeli army is expected to withdraw completely from southern Lebanon tomorrow within the framework of the ceasefire agreement that began between Israel and Lebanon on November 27, 2024, the Israeli army announced that it will not withdraw from 5 points.

In a statement made by the Israeli army, it was stated that they would continue to be stationed on 5 dominant hills in southern Lebanon, and it was expressed that these hills are a hill near Labbouneh opposite the Israeli border town of Shlomi, the Jabal Blat summit opposite Zar’it, a hill opposite Avivim and Malkia, a hill opposite Margaliot, and a hill opposite Metula. Stating that the points in question are outside of Lebanese residential areas, the army announced that all Israeli soldiers would withdraw from the villages and towns on the Lebanese border by 10:00 local time tomorrow.

The army stated that Hezbollah's infrastructure and weapons in areas close to the Israeli border have been almost completely destroyed, and that after the withdrawal, they will respond to immediate threats that violate the ceasefire and report other violations to a US-led committee. The Israeli army pledged to intervene in attacks in coordination with the US in cases where the Lebanese army does not take action.

It had previously been alleged that Israel requested to keep its soldiers at five points in southern Lebanon, that the US approved this request, but that the Lebanese government rejected it.
