Israeli army calls up reservists previously exempted from service
The Israeli army has announced that it has begun calling up reservists who were previously exempted from military service, citing a "shortage of forces."
In a written statement, the army said, "Defense Minister (Yoav Gallant) has ordered the recall of reservists who were previously exempted from military service and are still of service age, due to a shortage of forces."
The statement noted that this decision was made within the framework of an assessment of the status and operational volume of regular and reserve forces, and as part of the army's plan to increase its troop numbers.
The statement further noted that the army will begin accepting applications from reservists once it has completed its preparations, and that those deemed suitable to return will be assigned to various units as necessary.
