Israeli Chief of General Staff: Ground offensive into Gaza is "necessary"
Israeli Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi stated that a ground offensive into the blockaded Gaza Strip is "necessary" to achieve their objectives.
In a video message, Halevi noted that 3 weeks have passed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and stated that the war has "entered a new phase."
In his first statement following the Israeli army's announcement that it would "expand the activities of ground forces," Halevi expressed that Israeli troops are conducting "ground operations" in the Gaza Strip.
Halevi commented that a ground operation is necessary to defeat their target, Hamas, and to secure the return of hostages in Gaza.
