Israeli military issues Gaza warning following ceasefire
The Israeli military has warned Palestinians in Gaza not to move from the south to the north of the region after the ceasefire agreement takes effect tomorrow morning at 08:30 local time.
In a statement on his social media account, Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that they wanted to clarify certain issues to prevent friction and misunderstandings, noting that the army aims to ensure the implementation of all details of the agreement.
Stating that the Israeli army will continue to be present in certain areas of the Gaza Strip according to the agreement, Adraee warned against approaching Israeli forces in the region until further notice.
Adraee stated, "Given the Israeli army's activities in the region, the danger of moving from the south to the north of the Gaza Strip or towards the Netzarim Corridor (between the south and north of the Gaza Strip) remains. When such movement is permitted, an announcement and instructions regarding safe methods of transport will be issued."
Adraee also conveyed that it is dangerous to approach the Rafah border area in the south of the Gaza Strip, the Philadelphia Corridor area (on the Gaza-Egypt border), and areas where the Israeli army is concentrated, emphasizing that there is also a great danger for fishing, swimming, and diving in the maritime area along the Gaza Strip.
Finally, Adraee noted that approaching land and buffer zones controlled by Israel is prohibited and extremely dangerous.
CEASEFIRE AND HOSTAGE EXCHANGE AGREEMENT
Qatar, one of the mediating countries, announced on January 15 that an agreement had been reached between Israel and Hamas on a ceasefire and hostage exchange in Gaza.
In the first 42 days of the ceasefire agreement, which will come into effect as of Sunday, January 19, and will consist of 3 phases, 33 Israeli hostages will be released.
The agreement includes the comprehensive delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as well as the return of displaced Palestinians to their regions.
The details of the second and third phases will be announced upon the completion of the first phase.
