Israeli Minister demands relocation of Gaza residents to other countries

Pointing to the idea of "voluntary relocation" of Palestinians in Gaza to other countries, Gamliel stated that they "need to try something new" and called on the international community for "help" in this regard. The Israeli minister argued that one of the options for Gaza following Israel's attacks is to "encourage the voluntary relocation of Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip for humanitarian reasons."

Targeting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Gamliel said, "Instead of pouring money into the failed UNRWA to rebuild Gaza, the international community can help with relocation costs, helping the people of Gaza build new lives in their new host countries."

Gamliel claimed that the "voluntary relocation of Gazans to other countries" would be in the interest of both Palestinians and Israelis.

POINTED TO EGYPT

It had previously emerged that the Ministry of Intelligence, headed by Gamliel, had prepared a wartime proposal envisioning the transfer of a portion of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, which is largely desert.

In the Ministry of Intelligence's approved document dated October 13, it was suggested that the forced migration of civilians in Gaza to Egypt would have "positive and long-term strategic results."

SIMILAR STATEMENTS HAD COME FROM OTHER MINISTERS AS WELL

The option of driving Palestinians in Gaza from their homeland and their "voluntary migration" to other countries is frequently voiced by Israeli ministers.

Israel's far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich had claimed that "the voluntary migration of Gazans and their acceptance by countries around the world is the humanitarian solution that will end the suffering of Jews and Arabs."

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir had supported calls for the exile of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to other countries.

Heritage Minister Amihai Eliyahu, who is known for his far-right views and who made headlines with his statement that dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza was "one of the options," also said in a program he attended, "(The Palestinians in Gaza) can go to Ireland or the deserts; the 'monsters' in Gaza should find a solution themselves."
