Israeli official: Gaza ceasefire deal could be reached by the end of this year

A senior Israeli official has claimed that a ceasefire and hostage exchange deal could be reached between Hamas and the Tel Aviv administration by the end of this year.

In a report by Israel's Channel 12, citing an unnamed senior official, it was noted that a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement could emerge from the ongoing indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel by the end of December.

'PROGRESS' MESSAGE

The Israeli official suggested that the timeline set by U.S. officials for reaching a ceasefire and hostage exchange deal in Gaza is not unreasonable, stating, "Progress is being made slowly almost every day."

U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated in a press conference held on December 12 that he believes a ceasefire and hostage exchange deal in Gaza could be reached by the end of the month.

Sullivan also expressed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not waiting for the inauguration of Donald Trump, who was elected as the 47th President of the United States, to pursue a hostage exchange and a ceasefire in Gaza, adding, "(Netanyahu) is ready for a deal."
