Israeli Prime Minister says pause could be extended

In a video message published on the Israeli Prime Minister's Office X social media account, Netanyahu stated that he had spoken by phone with US President Joe Biden.

Commenting on his conversation with Biden, Netanyahu stated that he finds the framework for extending the "humanitarian pause" by one day for every 10 Israeli hostages released by Hamas to be "positive."

Emphasizing that he conveyed to US President Joe Biden that "they will return with all their might to achieve their goals once this framework ends," the Israeli Prime Minister listed his goals as "eliminating Hamas, ensuring that Gaza does not return to its former state, and bringing back the Israeli hostages."

On the other hand, Hamas had also announced earlier in the evening that they were working to extend the "humanitarian pause" in the fighting with Israel in order to release more hostages.

The agreement for a 4-day "humanitarian pause" in the fighting between Israel and Hamas went into effect on Friday, November 24, at 07:00 (08:00 Turkish time).

According to the agreement, 150 Palestinians in Israeli prisons will be released in exchange for 50 Israeli hostages held by Hamas. The hostages to be released consist of women and children from both sides.

Hamas had announced that the "humanitarian pause" includes the entry of 200 aid trucks and 4 fuel tankers daily to be delivered to all regions of Gaza.

As part of the agreement, 39 Israeli women and children from the Gaza Strip and 117 Palestinian women and children from Israeli prisons have been released so far.
