Israeli soldier who shared video from Gaza receives prison sentence

The Israeli military announced that the bodies of five people taken hostage during Hamas's October 7 attack on southern Israel have been recovered. It was reported that the bodies were located in Khan Yunis, which has been under intense Israeli bombardment for weeks.

According to Israel Army Radio, the bodies belonged to 56-year-old kindergarten teacher Maya Goren and four Israeli soldiers. It was claimed that Goren was killed while being held hostage, while the soldiers were killed during clashes between Hamas's military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, and the Israeli army on October 7.

Meanwhile, a reservist in the Israeli army shared a video he recorded in Khan Yunis on his social media account. The video showed five body bags in a military vehicle. According to a report by The Times of Israel, the video capturing the moment the hostages' bodies were found was shared on social media.

The Israeli military announced that the reservist who filmed the video has been sentenced to prison. The soldier, who was dismissed from the army, was sentenced to 10 days in prison. The statement included the following: "The Israel Defense Forces takes such incidents seriously and condemns behavior that endangers the safety of our soldiers and harms the families of the hostages." According to the statement, the reservist, who was said to have "violated protocols," was punished by the commander of the 98th Division, which is conducting the operations in Khan Yunis.
