Israeli soldiers tie wounded Palestinian to vehicle hood

The Israeli military tied a wounded Palestinian man to the hood of a military Jeep during a raid they conducted in the city of Jenin in the West Bank on Saturday.

In a video shared on social media, which Reuters has verified, Mucahid Azmi, a resident of Jenin, is seen tied to the hood of a Jeep as two ambulances pass by.

STATEMENT FROM THE ISRAELI MILITARY

According to a report by T24, the Israeli military stated in a press release that fire had been opened on their forces, that they had returned fire, and that they had wounded and detained a suspect during the clash.

The statement noted that the soldiers subsequently "violated military protocol by tying the suspect to a vehicle."

"NOT IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR VALUES"

The military stated, "The behavior of the soldiers in the incident in the video is not in accordance with our values," and added that an investigation would be conducted.

The statement also reported that the suspect was handed over to medical personnel for treatment.

According to Azmi's family, the detention took place during a raid in which Azmi was wounded. Although his family requested an ambulance, the Israeli soldiers tied Azmi to the hood of a vehicle and then drove off.

Violence in the West Bank has escalated following the war that began between Israel and Hamas in October. Israel frequently conducts raids in the region, Jewish settlers attack Palestinian villages, and Palestinian groups carry out street attacks.
