Israel's ground operation plan: The reason for the operation has been revealed
It is reported that the Israeli army is hours away from the largest ground operation it has planned to carry out in Lebanon in over 20 years. The alleged goal is to push Hezbollah away from the border and take control of the entire region south of the Litani River.
Israel's preparation for a large-scale ground operation targeting southern Lebanon has received widespread coverage in the international press. According to information obtained from Israeli and US sources, the primary objective of the operation is to end Hezbollah's military presence south of the Litani River and dismantle the infrastructure in this region.
Officials state that this move by Israel would be the most extensive ground operation against Lebanon since the 2006 war. Such a step is assessed to dangerously escalate regional tensions. In particular, the possibility of Iran's involvement in the operation raises the risk of the conflict spreading to other countries.
MILITARY PREPARATIONS INTENSIFIED
According to Israeli security officials, the plan is to target hundreds of structures in the south of the Litani River that house Hezbollah's weapons depots and military bases. Statements from the Israeli Defense Minister indicated that the option of "permanently occupying" southern Lebanon is on the table.
A senior Israeli official sent a message of determination, stating, "We will do the same thing here that we did in Gaza." Officials also noted that the recent attacks in which more than 200 missiles were fired by Hezbollah played a decisive role in Israel's decision.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Israeli army is deploying additional troops and reserve soldiers to the region. It is emphasized that the army's main goal is to ensure security at the border and push Hezbollah out of the area.
THE REASON FOR THE OPERATION: HEZBOLLAH'S MILITARY PRESENCE
Before the latest developments, it had been stated that the Israeli administration intended to maintain the status quo in Lebanon and avoid further escalation. However, the intense missile attack launched by Hezbollah in coordination with Iran last week caused Israel to accelerate its operational preparations.
An Israeli official summarized the changing approach with the words, "Before this attack, we were ready for a ceasefire in Lebanon, but now we have no choice but a comprehensive operation." The Israeli side reports that the operation will focus on ending Hezbollah's capacity to attack Israel.
In these days when tension in the region is rising every day, the prospect of a large-scale ground operation has turned attention to the Lebanon-Israel border. The eyes of the whole world are turned to the developments that will take place in the potential military intervention between the two countries.
