It was previously claimed he would come to Turkey: Shara made his first foreign trip to Saudi Arabia

It has been reported that Ahmed al-Shara, who was declared President of the Transitional Government established in Damascus, has made his first foreign visit to Saudi Arabia. It was expected that Shara, the former HTS commander who took control of the administration after the Assad dictatorship was toppled, would make his first visit to Turkey. However, Shara will meet with officials in Riyadh today (February 2).

In reports reflected in the Syrian press last January, it was claimed that Shara would come to Turkey after being officially declared President. On the other hand, Shara went to Saudi Arabia, which is expected to train Syria's 'new security forces'.

According to the news from Saudi Arabian television Al-Ekhbariya, Shara, who is accompanied by Foreign Minister Assad Hassan al-Shaibani, has arrived in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

In an interview he gave to the international press in January, the leader of the new government stated that they had first spoken with Turkey regarding the training of the security units to be established, but that Saudi Arabia had made a better offer. Shara, who is expected to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, made his first foreign visit to Saudi Arabia after being elected President of the transition period in Syria.

A 'Victory Conference' was held in Syria on January 29 with the participation of the new administration's leader Ahmed Shara, as well as Foreign Minister Assad Hassan al-Shaibani and representatives of military groups in the country. It was announced that Shara, who was declared President of the transition period following the conference, would represent the country on international platforms.
