'Jericho Wall' plan was implemented: 'Israel had been aware of Hamas's attack for over a year'

The New York Times has alleged that Israel had been aware of the attack plan Hamas carried out on October 7 for over a year, but that the Israeli military and intelligence deemed the plan unrealistic, believing it would be too difficult for Hamas to execute.

'Jericho Wall' plan was implemented: 'Israel had been aware of Hamas's attack for over a year'

According to a report by The New York Times, a 40-page document that Israeli officials dubbed "Jericho Wall" reportedly listed the events of October 7 point by point.

The document reviewed by The New York Times did not specify a date for the attack, but it outlined methodical assaults intended to overwhelm and dismantle Israel's defenses around Gaza. According to the documents, Hamas planned to seize Israeli cities and raid military bases through these means.

THE PLAN WAS IMPLEMENTED ON OCTOBER 7

The plan also emphasized the necessity of launching a massive rocket barrage from Gaza toward Israel; it also envisioned drones striking security cameras and automated weapons along the border. This would allow Hamas militants to cross the border on motorcycles, paragliders, and on foot to enter Israel.

Hamas implemented this plan on October 7 almost exactly as it was written in the documents.

HAMAS ALSO CONDUCTED DRILLS

As reported by T24 citing The New York Times; the plan also contained sensitive information such as the location and size of Israeli military forces. It is unknown how Hamas obtained this intelligence.

According to the report, the document was widely circulated among the Israeli military and intelligence community, but experts concluded that an attack of this scale was beyond Hamas's capabilities.

It is unknown whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or any other high-level political leader saw the document.

It was stated that in July, a senior intelligence analyst reported to the relevant units that Hamas had conducted a drill testing the elements of the plan. However, according to emails, a high-ranking official once again did not take this drill seriously.
