A written statement from the White House reported that President Biden called Trump to discuss the incident.

The statement noted, "President Biden spoke with former President Trump and expressed his relief that he is safe. The two had a cordial conversation, and former President Trump thanked him for the call."

Meanwhile, Trump also issued a written statement regarding the call, noting that he and Biden had a cordial conversation.

Biden, who had called Trump regarding the incident described as an attempted assassination, had previously stated that he had been unable to reach the former president and would try calling again later.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Gunshots were heard yesterday evening near the golf course where former U.S. President Trump was located in Florida, after which it was reported that he was safe.

Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., announced on his X account that local law enforcement had found an AK-47 rifle in the bushes at the course following the incident and that a suspect had been apprehended.

Sources speaking to the AP stated that a Secret Service agent had opened fire on the suspect while Trump, whom he was tasked with protecting, was playing golf.

In an email sent to his supporters, Trump emphasized that he would "never surrender," stating, "There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I am safe and well."

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that it is investigating the incident as an "apparent assassination attempt" against Trump.

U.S. President Joe Biden commented on the incident, stating, "The Secret Service needs more help."

Trump survived an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, sustaining an injury to his ear.
