Kamala Harris calls for ceasefire to Netanyahu
U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their White House meeting to "get the deal done and end the war" with a ceasefire.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who has become the Democratic presidential nominee following U.S. President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race, said she conveyed her serious concern regarding the urgent humanitarian situation in Gaza to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their meeting at the White House.
The pair posed for cameras but did not make any statements before their meeting. Speaking to the press after the meeting, Harris stated that they had a comprehensive discussion with Netanyahu and evaluated the agenda regarding the Middle East.
Harris said, "What has happened in Gaza over the past 9 months is devastating. I expressed my serious concern with the scale of human suffering in Gaza, including the death of far too many innocent civilians. I also made clear my serious concern about the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza."
Stating that she told Netanyahu during their meeting that it is time to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and that the hostages must return home, Harris said, "Let's get the deal done and end the war with a ceasefire."
