It has been announced that Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has accepted the resignation of the government led by Alikhan Smailov.
First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar has assumed the role of acting prime minister.
While no information has been shared regarding the reason for the government's resignation, an expanded government meeting is planned to be held tomorrow under the chairmanship of President Tokayev.
Alikhan Smailov took office following the events of January 2022 and was reappointed as prime minister after the parliamentary elections in 2023.
