Kremlin's response to Macron: 'NATO-Russia conflict is inevitable'

Kremlin spokesperson Peskov held a press conference in Moscow to evaluate French President Emmanuel Macron's statements that sending troops to Ukraine is "not out of the question."

Emphasizing that the emergence of this possibility is an important and new development, Peskov stated, "We have already heard all other aspects of the French President's statement and have taken them into account. We are also well aware of Macron's position regarding the necessity of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia."

When asked whether a conflict between NATO and Russia would occur if Western countries were to send troops to Ukraine, Peskov replied, "In that case, we should not talk about the probability, but about the inevitability. That is how we assess it."

Stating that NATO countries should carefully evaluate such actions before undertaking them, Peskov said, "They should ask themselves whether this corresponds to their own interests and, most importantly, to the interests of the citizens of their countries."

In his statement yesterday, Macron had explained that there is no consensus among European countries on sending troops to Ukraine, which has been fighting against Russia for over 2 years, but that this possibility should not be ruled out.
