Last-minute change to Erdoğan-Trump meeting

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was in New York for the 80th United Nations (UN) General Assembly, departed for Washington after completing his contacts. Erdoğan was seen off at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Turkey's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, and Consul General in New York, Ambassador Muhittin Ahmet Yazal.

The plane carrying President Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan landed at Joint Base Andrews, near the capital Washington. The delegation, which was welcomed there by Turkey's Ambassador to Washington Sedat Önal and accompanying officials, included Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, MIT Director İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Head of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün, Chief of Presidential Staff Hasan Doğan, and Chief Advisor to the President for Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç.

Meanwhile, the US Secret Service has taken intensive security measures around Blair House, where President Erdoğan will be staying.

ERDOĞAN-TRUMP MEETING

President Erdoğan will meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington. The meeting is expected to address topics such as trade, investment, the defense industry, and the strengthening of bilateral relations.

LAST-MINUTE CHANGE TO THE MEETING

A last-minute change has been made to the meeting between Erdoğan and Trump scheduled for this evening. The meeting between the two leaders will be held behind closed doors.

MINISTER FİDAN WILL ALSO BE IN WASHINGTON

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan will also travel to Washington following his program in New York to participate in the contacts.
