Lunch between Trump and Putin canceled
Following the summit held in Alaska, the lunch between Trump and Putin was canceled. Trump announced that they had made progress in the talks but that no final agreement had been reached.
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin continued with a summit held in Anchorage, Alaska. After the summit, which lasted approximately 3 hours, the lunch planned between the delegations of the two countries was canceled. Following the meeting, both leaders departed to return to their respective countries on separate planes.
MEETING IN A "THREE-ON-THREE" FORMAT
Prominent figures were present among the delegations attending the summit. Trump was accompanied by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, while Putin's delegation included Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kremlin Foreign Policy Advisor Yury Ushakov. The meeting between the two leaders took place in a "three-on-three" format.
LUNCH CANCELED
Following the talks, it was initially planned for both leaders to come together for lunch. However, the lunch was canceled, and both leaders decided to leave their current location. While Putin boarded his plane to return to Russia, Trump boarded "Air Force One" to head to Washington.
"NO AGREEMENT REACHED"
Speaking at a joint press conference held at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson after the summit, Trump stated that they had made significant progress in the talks but that a final agreement had not yet been reached. Trump remarked, "There are still a few important issues we haven't fully agreed on, but we have made some progress. There is no deal until a deal is reached."
