Maduro claims 'attempts are being made to rig the elections'

Addressing the public at a rally organized in Lara state, Maduro reacted to the opposition, which has united under the umbrella of the Unitary Platform (PUD).

Stating that they will win the presidential election to be held on July 28, Maduro said, "We will win and we will finish far ahead. They know this, and that is why they are trying to rig the ballot box."

Reminding the audience of the "unilateral" sanctions imposed by the US on Venezuela, Maduro said, "Enough is enough. Do not mess with Venezuela. Stop harming this brave people. This noble people will not allow their future to be stolen. There will be peace in Venezuela. We will always talk about peace in these lands. I swear to God."

Maduro stated that the country's power plants are being targeted by the opposition and that they will take all security measures at the plants on election day.

The people of Venezuela will head to the polls on July 28 to elect their new president.
