Mahmoud Abbas: 'Our people are being subjected to genocide before the eyes of the world'

According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) held an extraordinary meeting to discuss recent developments.

CALL FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING

Speaking at the meeting, Abbas called on the leaders of Arab countries to hold an extraordinary summit to stop the brutal attacks against the Palestinian people and their cause, to combat regional and international challenges, to do everything necessary to ensure the Palestinian people remain on their land, and to end the occupation of the lands of the State of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Emphasizing that the Palestinian cause is going through extremely difficult days, Abbas said, "Our people in Gaza are being subjected to genocide and massacres by Israeli forces before the eyes of the entire world."

ISRAEL REJECTED CEASEFIRE CALLS

Stating that they have made every effort to stop the attacks from the very first moment and have been in intense communication with world leaders, Abbas pointed out that despite the United Nations (UN) General Assembly resolution calling for an "immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities" in Gaza, Israeli forces have launched ground attacks and are heavily bombing Gaza.

''HOW CAN ONE REMAIN SILENT IN THE FACE OF THIS MASSACRE?''

Abbas stated, "How can one remain silent in the face of the killing of more than 3 thousand Palestinian children? How can one remain silent in the face of the bombing of hospitals? How can one remain silent in the face of this brutal destruction and collective punishment against civilians?"

''I SALUTE ALL FREE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD''

Appreciating the demonstrations held in solidarity with Palestine, Abbas said, "I salute the Palestinians in Palestine, in exile, in camps, and in the diaspora, and all the free people of the world who show their solidarity and sincere stance with the legitimate national rights of our people."

Calling on all countries of the world to pressure Israel to stop shedding the blood of the Palestinian people, Abbas also called on the Palestinian people to stand firm on their land, to be in solidarity, and to fight against displacement and a new Nakba (Great Catastrophe) in the face of the war waged by Israeli forces against Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.

EMPHASIS ON THE STATE OF PALESTINE

Pledging to rebuild everything Israel has destroyed in Gaza, Abbas noted the following:

"Gaza will remain an essential part of the State of Palestine, alongside East Jerusalem and the West Bank, and a dagger in the throat of the aggressors. Jerusalem will also remain our eternal capital with its sanctities for Muslims and Christians."
