Many dead and injured in armed attack in Russia

Dozens of people were killed and many others were injured in an armed attack at a concert hall in the Russian capital, Moscow.

According to Russian media, it was stated that 5 attackers were involved in the attack, in which machine guns and hand grenades were used, and that there were dozens of dead and injured.

Information was shared that the hall had been evacuated.

It was stated that there was an explosion and a fire broke out in the building following the attack.

Numerous police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene.

According to initial data provided by the Russian Federal Security Service, 40 people were killed and 146 were injured in the terrorist attack on the concert hall.

ISIS CLAIMED RESPONSIBILITY

The attack was claimed by the terrorist organization ISIS via a statement made on Telegram.

The Russian press wrote that the attackers "most likely have not been caught."

"NO EVIDENCE THAT UKRAINIANS WERE INVOLVED"

US National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby, in his statement regarding the Moscow attack, said that he could not yet provide information about the details of the attack and that there was no evidence that Ukraine or Ukrainians were involved in the incident.

MINISTER FİDAN CONDEMNED THE TERRORIST ATTACK

Foreign Minister Fidan spoke by phone with his Russian counterpart Lavrov and condemned the terrorist attack in Moscow.

MEDVEDEV: 'DEATH FOR DEATH'

Medvedev made a statement regarding the attack on his Telegram account. Wishing condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack, Medvedev also wished strength to the loved ones of the victims.

Stating that "terrorists only understand retaliatory terror," Medvedev said, "Unless violence is met with force, and unless the mass executions of terrorists and the repression of their families are met with deaths, no court or investigation will be of any use."

Medvedev also noted the following:

"If it is determined that these are terrorists of the Kiev regime, it is impossible to treat them and their ideological inspirers any other way. All of them must be found and mercilessly destroyed as terrorists. Including the officials of the state that committed such an atrocity. Death for death."

FOREIGN MINISTRY: THE WHOLE WORLD MUST CONDEMN

While Russian authorities announced that they have increased security measures throughout the city, especially at airports and metro stations, all events to be held over the weekend have been canceled.

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a written statement saying, "The whole world must condemn this terrorist attack."

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that a great tragedy had occurred and offered his condolences to those who died.

Chechen leader Kadyrov also made a statement, saying, "I condemn this brutal attack against civilians."

WHITE HOUSE: THE IMAGES ARE HORRIFYING

Immediately after the attack, the White House stated, "The images of the attack are horrifying, our hearts are with the victims. US citizens in Moscow should not leave where they are."

UK AND US HAD WARNED

The US Embassy in Russia, in a warning published on March 7, had said, "Avoid large gatherings, including concerts, in Moscow in the next 48 hours."

On the other hand, the UK had also issued a similar warning for its citizens.
