Mayor in Texas hands over his seat to Turkish children
John Muns, the mayor of Plano, one of the major cities in the U.S. state of Texas, handed over his seat to Turkish children in honor of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day.
The "Turkish Society of Texas (TURKSOTX)," an association representing the Turkish community in Texas, visited Plano Mayor Muns at his office in honor of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day.
Muns welcomed Turkish children aged 5-12 living in the region, chatted with them, and gave them gifts.

Among the children to whom Muns symbolically handed over his mayoral seat for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day were Deniz Gürman, Atakan Ayata, Atlas Bal, Demir Yarımer, Ayla Deveci, Ahmet Efe Bektaş, Ella Kasaburi, Alp Tanrıverdiler, Ata Canberk, and Arya Bal.
CELEBRATED AS A HOLIDAY IN PLANO
When 5-year-old Deniz Gürman, who sat in the mayor's chair, asked "what is planned for children in the city this year," Muns replied that April 23 would also be celebrated as a holiday in Plano and that they had issued a proclamation for it.

Muns presented the proclamation declaring April 23 a holiday in Plano to TURKSOTX President Şaduman Gürbüz.
