Melania Trump to achieve a first in history

Melania Trump, wife of United States President Donald Trump, presided over a Security Council session held today at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This historic duty follows the U.S. taking over the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council as of March.

In an announcement from Melania Trump's office, it was emphasized that topics such as education, technology, peace, and security would be opened for discussion at the meeting, and that it would be the first time an American First Lady has presided over such a session. The task in question was recorded as a first in UN history and drew attention as a development the council has not been accustomed to until now.

UN Secretary-General Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, in his response to questions at the daily press briefing, confirmed that there is no record in UN archives of a First Lady having previously presided over a Security Council meeting. Thus, Melania Trump has taken her place as the first presidential spouse to undertake this duty in UN history.

At today's Security Council session, council members addressed issues of equal opportunity in education globally, the impact of technological developments on peace processes, and international security. It is assessed that the session presided over by Melania Trump could pave the way for similar innovative steps at the UN in the future.
