Memorandum of understanding on 'education' signed between Turkey and Libya

According to the statement made by the Ministry, Minister of National Education Tekin met with Libyan Government of National Unity Minister of Technical and Vocational Education El Sifav, who is in Turkey for various official contacts.

During the meeting held at the Ministry, Tekin expressed his pleasure in hosting El Sifav in Turkey and stated that Turkey has deep-rooted historical and cultural ties with Libya. Pointing out that the peoples of the two countries have always stood by each other during difficult times, Tekin emphasized that Libya's sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and political unity are extremely important for Turkey.

Stating that Turkey is always ready to provide the support Libya needs, Tekin said they want to develop cooperation especially in the fields of education and culture. Tekin said, "Education is the most powerful instrument for national economic growth and sustainable development."

Stating that great strides have been made and continue to be made in the field of vocational and technical education in Turkey in recent years, Tekin said, "We are pleased that our success is being followed by many countries. Strong vocational education is very important for training qualified labor, developing professional skills, and meeting the needs of the economic labor market."

"IT WILL PROVIDE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE EDUCATION OF OUR YOUTH"

Expressing that they want to work together and develop concrete projects, Tekin said:

"The memorandum of understanding we will sign here today will be a sign of our strong cooperation and friendly relations. This text will not only be a diplomatic document but will also provide significant contributions to the education of our children and youth who will take part in building our future. I believe that our relations, which are based on brotherhood and mutual trust, will deepen even further."

Minister Tekin emphasized that Turkey has a strong body of knowledge in areas such as teacher training, curriculum development, and the use of technology in education, especially in vocational and technical education. Tekin also noted that they are ready to share Turkey's experience in this field by developing cooperation with Libya.

"WE WANT TO BENEFIT FROM TURKEY'S EXPERIENCES"

Visiting Minister El Sifav stated that he was happy to be in Turkey and said that they have been in a relationship of friendship and brotherhood with Turkey for centuries.

Noting that they want to modernize the curriculum by updating it, El Sifav stated that they want to benefit from Turkey's experiences in the field of vocational education regarding the use of technology in education and the opening of courses that will meet Libya's needs.

Following the speeches, Tekin and El Sifav signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Vocational and Technical Education Cooperation" as part of developing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education.

With the signed memorandum of understanding, it is aimed to share knowledge and experience on issues such as school management, recognition of prior learning, assessment of learning outcomes, and certification regarding vocational and technical education.

The memorandum of understanding also aims to facilitate the exchange of experts, trainers, and researchers; share knowledge and experience on new teaching techniques and technologies applied in the field of vocational education; share information regarding the processes of preparing and updating curricula and educational materials in the field of vocational education; establish and develop sister school relationships between institutions providing vocational education; and provide facilities for mutual diploma equivalence procedures.
