Mine collapse in Poland: 2 dead, 10 injured

Two workers lost their lives and 10 miners were injured following a collapse at a mine in southern Poland. Search efforts for one miner still trapped in the mine are ongoing.

Mine collapse in Poland: 2 dead, 10 injured

A collapse occurred in the morning hours at the Myslowice-Wesola mine operating in the city of Myslowice in southern Poland.

Of the 15 miners in the area where the collapse occurred, 11 managed to escape, while 4 miners remained trapped. Nine of the miners who managed to escape were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment for minor injuries.

Search and rescue operations have been launched for the workers trapped in the collapse, which occurred at a depth of approximately 870 meters.

RISK OF EXPLOSION REMAINS

One miner, whom teams managed to extract in the morning hours, was taken to the hospital with injuries.

Rescue teams, who are struggling to carry out their work in the mine where the risk of further collapse and methane gas explosion remains, have reached the lifeless bodies of 2 miners.

Search efforts for the fourth trapped miner are continuing.
