According to reports in the Italian press, Defense Minister Crosetto fell ill during the Supreme Defense Council meeting, which was chaired by President Sergio Mattarella and focused on evaluating internal and external security threats to the country as well as international developments.
It was noted that Crosetto left the meeting early because he was not feeling well and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Following the news, politicians shared messages on their social media accounts wishing Crosetto a speedy recovery.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini stated, "Come on Guido. We are waiting for you as soon as possible," while Carlo Calenda, leader of the opposition Action Party (Az), also wished for Crosetto's quick recovery.
Crosetto was previously taken to San Carlo di Nancy Hospital in the capital, Rome, in February due to complaints of severe chest pain.
Guido Crosetto, one of the founders of the far-right Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, which emerged as the leading party in the elections on September 25, 2022, has been serving as Minister of Defense in the right-wing coalition government established on October 22, 2022, under the leadership of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
It is known that Crosetto has experienced heart problems in the past.
