Money-transporting plane crashes: 15 dead, over 30 injured
A military transport plane carrying newly printed banknotes crashed in El Alto, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.
In the city of El Alto, Bolivia, a military transport plane carrying new currency for the Central Bank lost control while landing and veered off the runway. The plane crashed onto a street near a residential area, striking several civilian vehicles.
Rescue teams dispatched to the scene announced that, according to initial findings, at least 15 people have lost their lives and more than 30 injured individuals have been transported to hospitals. Efforts to identify those killed and injured in the crash are ongoing.
According to information provided by authorities, it is not yet clear whether a technical malfunction or adverse weather conditions caused the plane to crash, and a detailed investigation into the accident has been launched. Security measures have been increased around El Alto Airport.
While the treatment of the injured continues, it has been reported that traffic in the area where the accident occurred has been completely shut down.
