Netanyahu responds to claims that 'Trump will recognize Palestine'

According to the website of the Israel-based i24 News channel, Netanyahu denied claims that his relationship with Trump has deteriorated during a closed-door session of the Israeli Parliament's (Knesset) Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, and stated that these rumors were also refuted by the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee.

Netanyahu further asserted that they are in regular communication with Trump and that both sides share similar perspectives on many issues.

Previous reports in the Israeli media had alleged that Trump had cut off relations with Netanyahu and suspected him of playing games with him.

Addressing the claims that Trump would recognize a Palestinian state, Netanyahu argued that such reports should not be taken seriously.

The Israeli Prime Minister stated, "I do not think you will hear a serious announcement that a Palestinian state will be established; this is just a political game."

Some Israeli media outlets, citing Gulf diplomatic sources, had suggested that Trump was preparing to make an official announcement recognizing a Palestinian state during his upcoming Middle East tour next week.

According to the reports, the announcement in question is expected to be made at the US-Saudi Arabia Summit to be held in Saudi Arabia. As part of his visit, Trump is also scheduled to stop in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
