Netanyahu visits Israeli-occupied territory in southern Syria

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the buffer zone in southern Syria, which has been under Israeli occupation since December 2024 following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime.

Netanyahu visited the Israeli soldiers stationed in the region. He was accompanied by Defense Minister Israel Katz, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Israeli Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir, and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Director David Zini.

A statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office indicated that the soldiers were pleased with the visit and told Netanyahu that they wished to continue their duties to ensure border security.

In his own statement, Netanyahu said, "Today I visited the buffer zone in Syria, received an operational briefing, and met with the soldiers who heroically defend Israel every day. We are proud of our soldiers."
