Netanyahu's corruption trial postponed

The Jerusalem District Court has postponed the hearing session regarding the corruption case against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The court accepted the confidential diplomatic and security justifications presented by Netanyahu and ruled that the cross-examination sessions scheduled for tomorrow be moved to a later date.

The decision noted that in addition to Netanyahu, the head of Israel's foreign intelligence service MOSSAD, David Barnea, and the chief of military intelligence had also submitted requests for a postponement.

PREVIOUS REQUEST WAS REJECTED

Netanyahu had requested a two-week postponement of the hearings on June 27, citing similar reasons following the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel, but the court had rejected that request.

Following the ceasefire agreement between Iran and Israel, US President Donald Trump also stated on his social media account, "I have learned that Bibi has been summoned to court regarding many unfair accusations in this long-running, politically motivated case. He deserves much better than this, and so does the State of Israel. Bibi Netanyahu's case should be dismissed immediately or a pardon should be issued for a great hero who has done so much for the country," calling for the dismissal of the corruption cases against the Israeli Prime Minister.

The US President had also suggested that the trial could prevent Netanyahu from participating in negotiations with Hamas and Iran.
