New Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon: Conflicts flare up

The Israeli military announced that it had conducted airstrikes in southern Lebanon, coinciding with what it described as a "preemptive strike" operation launched against Iran. The statement indicated that the attacks specifically targeted military infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah. There has been no statement from the Hezbollah front regarding the matter yet.

According to information reported by Lebanon's official agency NNA, Israeli warplanes conducted low-altitude flights in the morning and carried out bombings at several locations. An Israeli army spokesperson claimed that "the operations carried out were directed at Hezbollah's military facilities in specific areas."

The intense clashes that began in October 2023 turned into a full-scale regional war in September 2024, with more than 4 thousand people losing their lives and approximately 17 thousand people injured to date. Despite the ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, 2024, it is observed that Israel's operations in the region continue and that it frequently violates the ceasefire.

The Israeli army has not yet withdrawn from the five hills it captured after October 8, 2023, and continues to maintain its military presence in the region. According to data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 331 civilians lost their lives and 945 people were injured in Israeli attacks between November 27, 2024, and November 20, 2025.
